Who is Tanzy?
A walk down Memory Lane
Tanzy Kohl is the pen name of historical fiction author Faith Knight. She chose that name so that her history-loving fans would not get confused. Besides, cozy mysteries are far different than historicals; plus, the pen name is fun!
Faith started out writing non-fiction: a project management primer and a cookbook (which won the 2013 African American Literary Award). She moved on to fiction writing with middle grade and young adult books, hoping to follow in the footsteps of her cousin, legendary children’s book author Virginia Hamilton.
But she found that historicals were her true calling, and thus she wrote the YA novel, As Gray As Black & White, which won the title of Runner-Up in the 2025 Indie Author Project contest. That same book won the title of finalist in the 2026 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
So suffice it to say she’s been at this a while, and now she’s moving into the world of amateur sleuths with the Wig Maker Mystery series.
So stay tuned for Books 2 and 3 and maybe more. We’ll see how it goes.
